Viking Challenge complete; one event remaining

With the 2014 edition of the Viking Challenge now in the history books, the final leaderboard for the Fergus Falls Area Race Series is starting to take shape.

On the men's side, it's Sam Petersen's title to lose, as his steady high-placing performances at all five events thus far have given him a 491.25 to 465.15 lead over Dave Jensen. Jensen is followed closely by Jake "doing em' all" Gustafson, who is himself fending off another Jensen, brother Nathan. Larry Bethel and Mike Copple are other 5-event competitors of note in the top 20.

The women are now led by Nicole Kjesbo, who toughed it out and did the extreme Viking Challenge, running both the 5k and 10k races. With 7th and 5th place finishes, respectively, she vaults to the top of the list with a comfortable 103 point lead ahead of Renae Sell-Lindgren. However, do not count Sell-Lindgren out, as she is a tough competitor, who is on her way to doing all six series races for an extra 50 points. It will be a fight to the finish to see who comes out on top.
