With conditions considerably better than last year's mudfest, Saturday's runners at the Running Wild Trail Run were treated to a picture-perfect day at Maplewood State Park. What's better than a chance to run some singletrack trail and pick up series points?
The women's leaderboard looks completely different after Saturday's race. Consistency pays off, as is evidenced by the top 10 women, all of whom participated in the first two series events and have rocketed past previous leaders Samantha VanWechel and Abby Walker. Leading the group in what looks to be a battle of the race directors are Bridget Leonard (Turkey Trot, 257.62 points) and Mary Ellen Tungseth (Running Wild, 248.73). Just because you run the race doesn't mean you can't run the race!
Paul Shol continues to lead the men's side of the ledger with back-to-back first place finishes and a perfect score of 300. Great for bowling, but is it enough to hold off the steady consistency of Nick Mariotti and Jake Gustafson, who are close on his heels?
See you next month after the Hoot Lake Triathlon!
