Was this year the best weather yet for the Turkey Trot? It might just be. Thoughts of years past with snow on the ground were a million miles away as over 200 runners competed under a clear blue sky.
As was predicted (more accurately than other November happenings as of late), Nick Mariotti and Joellen Kohlman-Petrick (ahem) trumped the competition to take the series titles. In addition, Nick and Joellen also picked up "Raced all 6" honors. Coincidence? We think not. Number one rule of the series is if you show up, you have a good chance of doing well.
Congratulations are in order to Jess Knutson, Mary Ellen Tungseth, Aspen Rohde, and Ashley Joy Hoff, who were also series regulars and kept things close throughout the year.
On the men's side of the ledger, we particularly enjoyed seeing Cameron Larson come back to the series after his cross-country season and take 1st place in the 10k to vault up into 4th overall after leading the series early on. We expect continued good showings from him in the future.
Thanks to all that participated this year. Overall and age group awards were handed out to those present at the Turkey Trot; if you weren't there, expect to receive an email from us soon with notification of your prize. We look forward to seeing you in 2017!
